To Royal wedding or not to Royal wedding?

To Royal wedding or not to Royal Wedding?

I know some people will not be aware that there’s a bigger than your average wedding on this weekend.

I don’t think we’re ever going back to the kind of community celebrations that I recall from Charles and Diana’s wedding, or the Silver Jubilee. But what about as a business? What’s the approach you’ll take? It certainly presents content opportunities. What angle might you take?

All Out Celebration

Chocolate Royal Wedding Coach

It might be that this is precisely your kind of thing. It might be just the thing for your customers as well, which is the critical thing in any decision.

Maybe it’s about products (like the Chocolate Coach from Choc on Choc) or events. Maybe you’re throwing your own event, with your product at the centre. Or if you’re a venue, then maybe you’re putting something special on.  All of which generates content, before, during and after.

The Cheeky Route

Take the cheeky route to celebrations

Again, this might be that you’ve produced products or an event, but a bit more tongue in cheek. This t-shirt is one from a range from Ellie Ellie. It might be if your audience is younger then maybe this is just the right tone to set over the next few days.

The Ignore It Route

Hello Sunshine has plenty to celebrate other than Harry & Meghan

Of course, there are plenty of other things going on this weekend that may well be more key to your customers, to your business. Maybe you’ve got a wedding of your own to celebrate (hello to Jo at Hello Sunshine, wishing you the best for your big day on Saturday).  But if it’s your business’ 10th anniversary on 19th May, then that’s a much bigger story, for you and your customers.

The Actively Against It

This might be your stance. It might be the perspective of your customers too. If it’s authentic, then why not? It’s your story to tell. You might well have already worked that it’ll mean some people are not for you as a brand. But that’s probably all right; you’ll probably have worked out that your tribe is people who are also against it. Which you are all fine with.

So, whatever you’re doing with the events of this weekend, do it in the way that feels right for you, and your business. This is as close as I’m getting to talking about it in my business. What about you? What approach will you take?
