Why getting big results with content doesn’t have to be extinct

“There’s nothing substantial left to find.”

I couldn’t decide if this was someone who didn’t know a lot about paleontology, or was someone who just didn’t want to look for fossils on the beach.

Either way, it was an excuse not to start. If there wasn’t going to be a big result, then they weren’t going to bother.

Some businesses use the same approach when it comes to creating content or trying a new marketing approach. If it’s not going to go big, then they’re staying at home. But isn’t big relative?

What’s big to your business is tiny to the market leader.

An experienced fossil hunter might come across a brontosaurus bone. But a holidaymaker having an amble down the beach might be just as thrilled to find a tiny ammonite. Which is more exciting than not finding one at all.

Sometimes we need to get out of our own way and just start. We may not go viral on day one, but we’ll never know if there’s no day one.

What are you putting off?
